What is aboot? I don't really understand this stuff yet

Nevermind. It's bootloader, which was replaced by seller to Mi Max 2 one and your native bootloader from Mi 5X became incompatible and leads to 900E mode bricking. Do you have bunny in Fastboot? Are you sure, that you have type 3, not type 2? If you have type 3, use this guide, it's 100% working http://en.miui.com/thread-838466-1-1.html

@PerezChilli So type 2 devices are safe and have Mi 5X original bootloader? so the difference is u ...

There are bunch of phones with seller's dule ROM with officially unlocked bootloader. So ROM version can't determine your phone type. Only bootloader version and S/N length can. So there are only 2 versions: with stock bootloader (type 1/2) and with Mi Max 2 bootloader (type 3). I classified phones by 3 types for comfort. And most dangerous and important information: flashing Mi Max 2 bootloader to Mi 5X with its native bootloader converts unaffected phone to type 3 one. Yes, there are no way to revert it back. It's both Xiaomi and sellers fault, I think. So never flash your tiffany with oxygen firmwares or backups. Cause you'll get type 3 brick.

I said it because lots of users want to get their phones untouched with stock firmwares. So it's more safe to unlock phones by yourself, don't use Chinese service for it.

There is no way to get OTA, because your phone is now like a Frankenstein, which has Mi Max 2 bootloader and Mi 5X system. So please flash your phone by Spanish guide and use it as-is.

Yes, but it's much more hard. You should have unlocked status, TWRP installed and you also should replace emmc_appsboot.mbn in every update package manually for working one before flashing package via TWRP.
