Hi,

I have recently purchased a Redmi Note 4G from China (model KHICNBK) and am wondering if I can just flash the global MIUI ROM for KHIMIBH using MiFlash and thus convert it into a Global model?

In fact, is there a need to do so if I were to use this model in Singapore? Can still get 4G?

Cheers

Yes, it is always good to use Mi-Flash to flash it

If your set is FDD-LTE set you will get 4G signal in SG

Downloaded the V5 ROM(KHIMIBH22.0) from the official site and saved into either internal phone storage or external SD card. Then fellow the picture snd click the up arrow icon(updater). Press the menu and selected "select update package", then you go to select the saved ROM file, another picture came out and press update. After the whole process completed and you will enjoying the new global ROM. 4G note in China have two version, TD LTE and FDD LTE. If your set was FDD LTE then you will have 4G in Singapore. Can you connected your phone with SG 4G sim card before flashing a new ROM? You can pm me if you need further help. Not necessary to use PC for flashing/updating ROM.

Also keen in knowing how to convert from China ROM to Global ROM for Note 4G.  Had to switch to China Developer ROM due to boot loop.

For China Developer ROM, the upgrade seems to be automatic, over the air.  The current auto upgrade is Developer 5.1.10, which is quite bad.  Is there an option to switch it off?

Firstly I need to know which ROM you were using? Downloaded Google installer from Mi market, it can let your play store came to live. Always used the native root method to root the phone which let the programs required root granted by system root permission. You can disabled the rom notification and auto update by going into setting inside updater app.

Just to clarify some matters:
1) If your phone comes with the China ROM, it is a risk to convert to Global ROM if you're unfamiliar with the processes, so be careful and check the procedures to backing up the phone prior to doing it in case anything goes wrong. Do check out the devices subforums, there are threads with more information there. Personally I think if the China ROM works well why not keep it?
2) You DO NOT NEED ROOT to acquire Google apps in the China ROM. Simply search for Google Services Framework (or Google Installer or something like that, China ROM users please help to confirm as I am using Global ROM), and simply install all the Google apps you need and they will work fine.

China ROM gets more themes than Global ROM too.

The note 4g is from Singapore Mi.   Have tried to upgrade to MIUI6 and everything went wrong.  Gone into bootloop.

No choice, have to use fastboot rom from China, which is developer ROM.  The developer ROM was initially good.  After the OTA 1.5.10 auto-upgrade, the system becomes quite buggy.  The camera sometime freeze, and the keyboard also got no response.

Now was looking if can flash back to Global ROM, which used to be  stable and good, except it is MIUI 5.  MIUI 5 does not have count badge, which is the reason to upgrade to MIUI6.  Sad to say, MiUI6 is not that fantastic and the count badge is not accurate at all.

Thanks for the help.

backup your data prior to upgrade a new rom in system > backup and reset, choose local backup. Then flashing a new ROM will be no such bootloop problem. my phone was rooted and i generally done some backups by titanium backup, nandroid backup by cwm recovery plus phoe backup by backup and reset. Do more reading in this forum until you are familier on full wiped without formating the internal sd card. Even when you really can't boot up the phoe, done a nandroid restore back to your previous rom By cwm recovery.

dear moderator.
on your #2,
please refer to this thread, http://en.miui.com/thread-75622-1-1.html
it is reported that the back sync google will NOT work, if one install google framework via the mi market.
i had recommended to reflash gapp for kk, via philz-touch cwm recovery and apparently it solve his/her problem.
cheers

dear moderator.
on your #2,
please refer to this thread, http://en.miui.com/thread-75622-1-1.html

Thanks for the confirmation that it works, that is extremely helpful of you.

However, usually we do not recommend advanced solutions for simple problems that can be solved by the use of non-root methods to reduce the risks of users new to MIUI and Android making mistakes that can be risky, which can lead to more trouble than required to solve issues.

For advanced users who are familiar with rooting and flashing, I believe they would have found your suggestions helpful, so do keep them coming!

As for @KavieKoo's issue of requiring to downgrade from V6 CN ROM to V5 Global ROM (which @shrmn can try too), you can use MiFlash and try. The download link as well as the link to the flashing guide can be found here: http://en.miui.com/download-218.html#363

GR33dyBlackie And to add-on , yes, you dont need to root your device to install philz-touch cwm recovery.  11:40, Jan-12-2015
GR33dyBlackie dear moderator. please note i'm only replying on your #2 query, and not to the threadstarter. and Yes, i strongly agree, for any1 whom had plans to reflash, please make sure you know what u r doing!  11:38, Jan-12-2015
