Smartphone Secretip - Xiaomi - comes to europe

The east first!
The chinese  vertical starter xiaomi, ventures to europe. At first, smartphones as well as fitness bands, loudspeakers and external powerbanks will be sold mainly in eastern european countries. In europe the company starts in poland, lithuania, latvia, estonia, ukraine, belarus, russia, hungary, czech republic, slovakia and greece.

Although germany and other countries in western europe are also on the expansion list of the company

said Xiaomi manager Lei Jun to the german handelsblatt.

However, we do not yet have a timeline for this because our resources are tied to expansion into other markets.

Xiaomi had put the expansion from the home market and some asian countries to a hold a few years ago. In addition to limited financial resources, fear of patent complaints was also a reason. Western markets can not be developed without a guarantee for patents.

Last week, Xiaomi purchased patents from Nokia and aswell a long-term deal with the finnish network equipment supplier.

A lot of technology for little money via onlineshop

Xiaomi moved a few years ago to the top group of the chinese smartphoneproviders with the business model to sell technically highly equipped devices relatively cheaply over the internet.

The size of the chinese market also made the company one of the world's largest smartphoneproviders. However, other young rivals such as Oppo and Vivo have started to sell more smartphones in china than Xiaomi, and large corporations such as Huawei, ZTE and Lenovo also want to play a leading role in the world.

Xiaomi is trying to expand with services as a business. As well as with supply of household appliances from the fryer to air cleaners and televisions.

Xiaomi wants to open new shops in the next three years, half of it with partners abroad

said Lei to the "Handelsblatt".

Xiaomi is already bug in Russia, to judge from comments om Aliexpress.

And there is a large Russian speaking population all over eastern Europe.

So Xiaomi would do well to exploite this wedge into Europe from the east, ignoring that Russian has so far never been given the status of official language anywhere in the EU, as it reasonably should have long ago.

If this is true, I think that it makes sense for Xiaomi to woo & win Europe from the West!

It's one of our major news outlets (we only have a few) they don't repost hoaxed news. Or they aren't known to do that.

German handlesblatt is news outlet specific and almost only for business investors, such as stock market investors and international partners. It's both very legit sources to say at least.

Since they already have a big community in russia it makes sense to start there. When they come to greece or hungary I can finally evade those iffy import taxes wooop.
