Hello MIUIers
Ever since Facebook acquired WhatApp, the application has seen many changes and is in the news continuously. Now on the company’s official website, it is mentioned that the application will work on the devices that are running on Android 2.3.7 and older until February 1, 2020. According to the reports which are more than a year old, WhatApp said that they would be stopping its support to the Android devices that run on Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 by the end of 2016 which did not happen to be the case.

Although those devices with old Android might get support till early 2020, these handsets will not be enjoying the latest updates that are pushed on latest versions as these older version doesn’t support the new updates. Apart from this, it also mentioned about other platforms and the last date of their support to them. The update on the website says WhatsApp support on Nokia Symbian S60 will end on June 30th, 2017, for BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 it will end on 31st of December 2017.

Coming on to the Windows Platform, the support will end on 31st of December 2017 for Windows Phone 8.0 and older while the support for Nokia S40 will end after 31st December, 2018. This is done because the developers will no longer work on these older platforms which do not have much support and will stop functioning gradually. Recently we have seen many new features coming on WhatsApp, like the WhatsApp status that works like snap chat stories that expire after 24 hours.
