Hello everyone,
My mi 5x bricked when installing an updated rom and went to black screen. Here's what I did so far:
1- Tried to enter recovery/fastboot mode, no avail.
2- Tried test point and entered edl (9008) mode.
3- Successfully flashed several developer/official tiffany roms, but the phone still in black screen (900E) mode.
4- Tought it might be Oxygen var (no adb available to check), so downloaded unbrick (mbn) files and tried to load after flashing an official rom. The program starts OK and connects to the phone, but stops when reaching emmc_appsboot.mbn file loading with this error:

5- Used QFIL to download unbrick, again this time received this error message:
  1. INFO: Looking for file 'patch0.xml'
  2. {ERROR: XML packet not formed correctly. Ran out of room looking for TAG}
  3. {ERROR: XML is not formatted correctly. Could not find closing />
  4. Download Fail:FireHose Fail:FHLoader Fail:Process fail
Copy the Code
So, almost assured that the var is tiffany not oxygen. However, the phone stuck in 900E black screen and nothing happens.
Appreciate if anyone can help.

Thank you

Apparently there is no solution for black-screen issue yet. If you had a Tiffany bootloader, I think you messed up your device more at step 4. Now only service center may help you. You may need a replacement of the motherboard or be lucky enough to get a hack through this deadlock!

Thanks for the reply. I've been hustling over this issue for weeks now. Unfortunately, after searching long I found that there is no official service center in my country and non of the other centers are devised to fix it. So it looks like I have to bid a bye for now.

I've successfully recovered my phone from black screen. your phone does go into fastboot even though there's nothing on screen just press volume - and power button untill you see some backlight. then just simply flash previous fastboot rom. you'll have to use an older version of miflash
