Greetings from MIUI Global Forum. MIUI introduced Full-Screen gesture mode at the end of 2017 which was simple, efficient and stable to use and many of our Mi fan thinking that it is the best comprehensive screen gesture for the Android experience. Since MIUI 10 is designed for the full-screen experience. So after the release of MIUI 10, our developer team are focusing on to improve full-screen gesture experience. Swipe across the screen starting from the edge to go back to the previous app controlling option is introduced which allows you to quickly switch to the previous apps and if you don't like to do this operation, you can turn off this function.
But this was not an end. Last week, our MIUI developer team have implemented Full-Screen Gesture 2.0 for Mi 6X, Redmi Note 5 (Whyred), and all other Android P running Mi devices and other Xiaomi Full-Screen device will get this update gradually. The new technology implementation scheme greatly improves the performance and is more smooth and stable. Specifically, this full-screen gesture 2.0 update is not a new interactive feature, but a strong incentive, firm steadiness, and input. By the implementation of the new full-screen gesture version 2.0, you can experience the whole full-screen is smoother than before.
Here are some FAQ with the relevant development team which might let everyone know the efforts of these behind the full-screen gesture.
Q: What is this Full-Screen Gesture 2.0?
A: Full-Screen Gesture 2.0 is one of the smoothest gestures on Android, nothing else.
Q: Since it can be called the most fluent, there must be breakthrough technical differences. Can you tell something about it?
A: Full-Screen Gesture 1.0 is implemented through System UI. Because it is less difficult to implement, it is the current mainstream solution, but it is quite resource-intensive, and there may be a situation of frame dropping. In Full-Screen gesture 2.0, we redesigned an animation framework to break through the limitations of the original System UI. The cost of this solution is very high and difficult. We spent a lot of effort, but in the end, the performance has improved dramatically, and the drop rate has dropped significantly, especially when it comes back to the desktop.
Q: In addition to the entire framework, are there still a few things that can be discussed in the full-screen gesture 2.0?
A: There are actually a lot of little things. For example, when the current application is displayed at the same time as the recent task, such as the rounded corner of the window, etc. These are not the mechanisms supported by Android itself. We need to study and discuss it to change and pursue it. These are small and insignificant. The details, in fact, we have spent a lot of thought and energy, just to make the user experience better, to achieve the Full-Screen Gestures we built in the ideal.
Q: Can you please shortly share with us about the full-screen gesture 2.0?
A: There is no difference between the full-screen gesture 2.0 interaction and 1.0, but there is a huge change in the internal implementation, which makes the resource consumption less, the appearance is better, and the smooth nature becomes better. Our interactive solution has been recognized by a large number of users, so our efforts during this period are improving performance and allowing low-end and mid-range devices to run smoothly.
It seems that MIUI's full-screen gesture 2.0 is not only the best gesture operation of Android but also it is the most smooth gesture operation.
Thanks to Admin @candicesu for her continuous support and supervision.
