How well do you know about MIUI features in Homescreen? Do you know that we can do various things by using finger gestures on homescreen? In this series, we are going to introduce some tricks that all MIUI lovers should master ! Access your favourite settings and shortcuts with cool finger gestures now.
1. Swipe down to access toggle
This is the most common gesture that almost every MIUI-ers know how to use it. Swipe down anywhere on the screen to access toggle
2. Swipe up to activate search
In China ROM, there's a swipe up gesture for MIUI-ers to access search.
The search is powered by Baidu and you can search anything on the web by entering your query. The search feature has been enhanced and improved greatly. You can even use search feature to find your apps, settings, contacts, messaging and so much more !
3. Slide three fingers to take a screenshot
This feature is one of the latest addition in MIUI 8 Developer ROM, you can enable it at Settings--->Additional settings---> Screenshot. Place your three fingers on the screen and swipe down to take a screenshot. Now you have another way to take a screenshot besides power button + volume down key
4. Two Fingers Pinch In Gesture
To enter homescreen settings, the common way is to press the Menu (☰) Button. Do you know that by pinch in 2 fingers on homescreen enable us to enter homescreen settings too? Pinch out 2 fingers will exit from the settings.
5. Hold the empty spot on the Home screen to enter the editing mode
Hold any empty spot on the home screen to enter editing mode. You have another alternative now besides using two fingers pinch in gesture.
6. Three Fingers Pinch In Gesture
We will enter editing mode by 3 fingers pinch in gesture. What we can do here? We can arrange the order of homescreen pages, add or remove pages, and even set the default homescreen page by tapping on the Home icon.
7. Enter Settings, Shake and Boom!
After we uninstall apps, there would be empty spaces as shown on the screenshot above. I'm sure some of you are lazy to drag and rearrange them one by one. Is there any hidden feature or quick way to deal with it? What if i tell you that you can simply arrange your apps by shaking your phone? Just enter the homescreen setting, hold the phone and shake it sideway, then your apps will be automatically arranged! Remember to hold your phone firmly before you shake it
9. Long press and move your apps
Choose the app you want to move, long press and hold it then you can move them around according to your preference.
10. Fingers gestures in recent app
In MIUI 8, there's minor changes in recent apps tray. You can customize the view of recent apps tray by tapping on the top right symbol. Beside tapping that symbol, you can still use two fingers pinch in and out gesture to change to either card or icon view. Card or icon view? Which one do you prefer?
There's lock and info option when we swipe down the app in recent app tray. You can lock apps such as Mi Fit, Whatsapp and Wechat in memory so that they don't get cleared automatically when the phone is in idle state. You can also access the information of the app by tapping the info button. Swiping up gesture will then clear/kill the app and clicking the "X" symbol will clear all the apps you opened.
11. Move Multiple Apps in Bundle
In homescreen setting, we have the feature of "Move apps" and able to move several apps at once. By tapping the apps one by one and move them to another page is a common sense thing to do. Do you know that we can swipe horizontally on the apps to make them in bundle, then move all of them into one page? It looks like a ninja move throwing multiple shurikens at once! Furthermore, we can utilize this feature to delete apps in buddle as well!
12. Screen Transition Effect
Do you know that we can change the transition effect of our homescreen? By entering Homescreen setting, we can find the option just at the most right side named "Effects". There are total 8 transition effects available. Pick the one you love the most and make your homescreen experience more awesome than before!
