Dear MIUI Support Team,

Now a days 4G LTE becomes Default & Mandatory for all mobile networks.

And Dual Sim mobile phones also used by majority of people. Therefore everybody moving to 4G LTE in both SIM networks.

All (Majority) Redmi Mobile phones have Dual Sim slot but only Single slot is compatible to work with 4G LTE network at same time.

Since both Sim slots are enabled with 4G LTE, the DUAL 4G LTE (STANDBY) is possible by upgrading MiUi (I think).

Hence It would be very happy if we users get it enabled in next updates.

If I wrote anything wrong technically (Because I don't know about inbuilt hardware compatibility & support for DUAL 4G LTE - Standby), please excuse.

Hi!
Like Bharat@26 said, it's all about hardware limitations... Let me try to explain:

To be able to make and receive calls, the devices use a "radio transceiver", this is a very expensive piece of technology... And this is the piece that controls the frequencies used, the problem is that this transceiver can only use one frequency at a time. This means that, on a dual SIM device, if you use the 4G on one card, the other one only can use one of the others remaining (2G or 3G)... It's a limited technology, in deed, but it's what we have.

The solution for having 4G on both SIM cards would be to have two radio transceivers on each device that could handle the SIM cards separately (and some 2018 devices already use that) but this comes with a huge problem (or two):
1. As the radio transceiver is very expensive, the devices become pricier;
2. A radio transceiver consumes a lot of power, this means batteries last 2x less.

You could say: But, this way, when the SIM 1 is not using 4G we could use it on SIM 2, right?
Right... and wrong! The issue is that 4G uses a lot of ressources and power and most of (medium gama) processors can't handle such stress (the batteries neither), so manufacturers opt for a 4G+2G compromise where the SIM 1 handles the internet (4G) and the other one deals with calls and messages only.

Hope this can help you understand the 4G dual stand by problem.
Please, help us help you. Always give feedback whether your issue is solved or not.
